Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) has committed to overhauling the COMENG Passenger, Inter-car and Cab doors. The COMENG Door Overhaul is a franchise obligation and falls under the TMP uplift stream of work. As part of the overhaul MTM has taken the opportunity to redesign and improve the reliability of the following door header components; door hangers, track wheels, and the door track criddle rails. SCG has provided project support to MTM in the form of a Project Engineer reporting to MTM Project Manager, who has supported all phases of the project life cycle from the development right through to delivery and project closure.

The Project Engineering capabilities supplied to MTM for this project include:

◘ Maintaining the project control pack
•Co-ordinating train deliveries & communicating modification completions with
the planning team

•Managing other catch back modifications using the door overhaul as a central programme
•Managing team of contractors to meet the changing labour requirements as a result of catch back scopes
•Managing quality, suppliers and the NCR process
○Inbound and out bound inspection
○Generating certificate of conformance
•Development of Engineering Change Procedures
○Conducting trial inspections
○Conducting risk assessments
•Interfacing with Maintenance Depot Supervisors to achieve project / maintenance work balance.
•Developing and revising maintenance instructions and installation procedures
