Rolling Stock Project
Alstom Citadis C2 Vigilance
Tram System Upgrade
Project Overview
Project Client: Department for Infrastructure & Transport (SA)
Year of Completion: 2018
SCG implemented a vigilance system upgrade across the fleet of nine Alstom Citadis 302 trams for the South Australian Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure (DPTI).
This safety-critical upgrade was identified as essential solution to reducing injuries to drivers (at the man-machine interface – or Master Controller Handle) through mechanical changes to equipment and safety control systems (traction/braking system & relay logic). SCG delivered this project as turn-key to DPTI with 100% return to work success rate.
This work involved SCG’s electrical engineering design under instructions team, (which included wiring schematics, cabling looms drafting, design, detailed functional requirements & specifications of all equipment & materials, EBoMs, ITPs, Testing & Commissioning Plans) review and approval of the proposed upgrade by ONRSR, prototype testing for cab interfaces and performance tests on the line (with Driver’s Safety Representatives) operator acceptance and subsequent implementation.
